PicMonkey, like Canva and Visme, is built primarily for ready-made content creation. Contrast this with prototyping software such as Figma, which is best suited for wireframes and live prototypes.

Tool Kit

PicMonkey’s tool kit is built specifically for basic and quick content creation. PicMonkey’s tool kit is relatively extensive. However, you still lack the flexibility of advanced solutions such as Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. These tools are best suited for advanced graphic designers.

PicMonkey, unlike Canva, comes with a layers tab. This makes shifting elements front and back easier to accomplish.

PicMonkey offers a comprehensive number of tool types to choose from. Each tool is designed to make content creation easy to understand and effective to do.

Photo editing in PicMonkey is limited when compared to Adobe Photoshop. However, it is more comprehensive than Canva and Visme.

PicMonkey’s collaboration is intuitive but only available with its most expensive plan. Plus, PicMonkey’s pricing increases with the amount of team members you add on. Because of these reasons we highly recommend Canva or Visme over PicMonkey if you are planning on collaborating with team members.

Projects can be edited by team members at any time. Collaboration in PicMonkey is very similar to document management software solutions such as Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.

Commenting in PicMonkey is also flexible. You can pin exact areas of a project you want to comment on. This provides more context for both you and your team members.

Cloud Storage

PicMonkey is fully cloud-based unlike Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. This means that you do not need to save your own projects on your device. We recommend PicMonkey if you will be handling a high volume of projects and files. However, PicMonkey does not include version control.

All your projects are stored in folders you create. You can create seperate folders to store your files in the cloud, similar to Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.
