DocHub Review Summary

DocHub was founded in 2014 by Chris Dover. The company is focused on creating an excellent user experience through all stages of the document signing process. Today, DocHub has around six employees and is based in Boston, Massachusetts.

DocHub is an electronic signature solution that helps individuals and organizations digitize their document workflows. Its platform includes standard features like legally binding signatures, templates, audit reports, custom branding, flexible signing and document storage. Overall, we found DocHub to be a feature-rich platform.

DocHub is one of the most affordable electronic signature solutions in the market. Surprisingly, DocHub does offer many advanced features at this price point. For example, DocHub offers in person signing at $6.99 a month, whereas DocuSign offers in person signing at $60 a month. Even Docsketch, one of the simpler and more affordable solutions in the market includes in person signing at $30 a month. DocHub also offers a free plan that lets you request up to three signatures per month.

We found that DocHub works best for individuals and SMBs who want an inexpensive, straightforward tool that can support moderately advanced workflows. Keep in mind, that in return for the lower price point, the product has a steep learning curve and comes with very little customer support.

  • If you prefer a fully-advanced solution that can work for enterprises, then we recommend looking into DocuSign.
  • If you prefer a simpler solution that focuses on supporting a basic workflow, then we suggest looking into Docsketch
  • If you need a solution for sales teams, we recommend looking into PandaDoc.

DocHub Pricing & Cost

DocHub’s pricing ranges from free to $6.99 per month. DocHub also offers a free trial of its paid plan for 30 days. It’s Pro plan comes with unlimited documents and users.

  • Pro: $6.99 per month

DocHub Features

Below, we discuss the key features of DocHub. We also include screenshots of the product to give you an idea of its design and architecture.

Templates & Document Editing

Templates and document editing are two essential features of electronic signature software. Both features in DocHub are reasonably intuitive. We also found DocHub’s document editor to be robust, especially considering its pricing.

Templates

While DocHub does not offer its own pre-built templates, it does let you make your own. Being able to make and reuse templates saves you time and keeps your content consistent.

Making templates in DocHub is simple. You start by either uploading your file or starting with a blank document. Afterwards, you will be allowed to add fields, and roles or stakeholders. Roles are primarily used to label the types of people who will receive and sign your templates (e.g. clients, managers, business partners).

The document types DocHub lets you upload are:

  • PDF
  • DOC
  • DOCX
  • XLS
  • XLSX
  • PPT
  • RTF
  • TXT
  • PNG
  • JPG
  • JPEG
  • GIF (non-animated)

DocHub will also automatically save your template for you. Using and sending templates in DocHub is easier than other platforms. To send a template, you just add an email and click send.

Document Editing

DocHub’s document editor is advanced and includes a few features not available in other advanced solutions like DocuSign. This includes being able to draw and use “whiteout” on a document. However, one disadvantage with DocHub’s editor is that you cannot edit the text of your uploaded documents. Therefore, any text edits need to be made in another application before the document is uploaded.

DocHub Document Editor

As seen above, DocHub lets you click and place seven fields, which includes legally binding signatures. You can also embed images within a document, and add stamps and shapes.

DocHub’s editor also lets you:

  • Navigate a document by page
  • Make comments
  • Edit field properties
  • Zoom in and out of a document
  • Undo and redo actions
  • Edit document title and message

Document Customizations

DocHub lets you customize the branding of your outgoing emails and the toolbar in the document editor. Being able to add custom branding elevates your brand, and improves communication between you and your stakeholders.

The elements DocHub lets you customize include:

  • Your own logo
  • The background color of the document toolbar
  • Your logo into the document toolbar

Document Workflow

DocHub offers features that support the management of your document workflow. This includes document sending, signing, and storing. Overall, we found that DocHub is best for supporting standard, not complex workflows.

Document Sending

DocHub offers a few capabilities for sending documents. This includes the most popular method – email. DocHub also lets you generate a link for in person signing and mass signatures. You can also choose to send your document as a PDF attachment in an email, or as a fax.

For email, DocHub lets you customize the email subject, message, set automated reminders, and choose to have the document expire a certain number of days after the last notification was sent.

DocHub Document Sending

Real-time Notifications and Reminders

After you send your document, DocHub will notify you through email when your document is complete. The platform does not include many other reminders that are found in most other solutions.

DocHub does let you set automatic reminders for recipients who have yet to complete your document. You can send a total of three reminders. These can be sent in succession to one another based on how many days have passed since the previous reminder. The maximum number of days you can set after each notification is 30.

Document Signing

Document signing is the next part in your document workflow. Overall, DocHub’s signing platform is efficient. It also includes some useful and unique features– for example a “Next Field” button that guides recipients to their corresponding fields.

DocHub Document Signing

Additional features DocHub’s signing platform include are:

  • Navigating a document by page
  • Refusing to sign a document
  • Reassigning a document to someone else
  • Zooming in and out of a document
  • Downloading or the document as a PDF

Document Storage

It’s important that once your documents have been executed, you can easily access them. Overall, we found DocHub’s cloud-based storage to be acceptable.

DocHub offers a few features that help the user optimize their document storage. This includes a search bar and the ability to filter documents by label, document privacy settings, shared settings, and owner.

However, DocHub does not offer a few standard storage features found in other solutions. This includes being able to filter documents by status or date. DocHub also does not let you create custom folders for your documents.

DocHub Audit Reports

Mobile

DocHub does not offer its own mobile application. Overall, we found the experience of signing via mobile web to be average. This is because a few of DocHub’s features on mobile are not optimized. For example, DocHub’s “Next” button, which guides recipients to their assigned fields, will only guide them to their required fields, not all of the fields assigned to them. This can make it difficult to find and fill out optional fields.

dochub Mobile

As seen above, DocHub does let you perform some useful functions on mobile web. This includes:

  • Zooming in and out of a document
  • Undoing and redoing actions
  • Navigating a document by page
  • Downloading the document as a PDF

Customer Support

Having efficient customer support is critical in ensuring a satisfactory customer experience. Overall, we found DocHub’s customer service to be limited in the support channels they offer and their live chat service. They currently do not have a phone number for customers to call and their live chat only lets you speak with a bot. The bot will only link articles that might answer your questions, rather than answer them directly.
