Signable was founded in 2011 by Olly Culverhouse. The company’s goal is to provide a platform that offers a quicker, cheaper, and safer way to sign documents online. Today, Signable has over 20 employees and is based in Bristol, England.

Signable is an electronic signature solution that helps businesses operate their document workflows more efficiently. Its platform includes core features like legally binding signatures, templates, audit reports, custom branding, flexible signing and document storage.

Signable is one of the more expensive electronic signature solutions in the market. This is because Signable’s plans are priced similarly to those of more advanced solutions like DocuSign and PandaDoc, but offer less features. Even with Signable’s free plan, you have to pay £1 for every document sent.

Overall, we found Signable to be ideal for those who need a simpler electronic signature solution, with a few nice-to-have features like document navigation and a messaging system that can be used while signing a document. If these nice-to-have features are not as important to you, you’ll likely prefer Docsketch. If you have the budget for a more advanced solution, we recommend DocuSign or signNow. Templates & Document Editing

Two key features of electronic signature software are templates and document editing. For these features, Signable’s platform is easy to use. However, certain processes, like sending templates, can be time consuming. We also found that Signable’s document editor does not include as many features found in more advanced tools like DocuSign and PandaDoc.

Templates

Signable does not offer its own pre-built templates, but does allow you to create your own. Creating and reusing templates saves you time and keeps your content consistent.

Creating templates in Signable is an intuitive process. You start by either uploading a Word, PDF or Excel file. Afterwards, Signable will let you add fields and roles or stakeholders. Roles are typically used to label the types of people who will receive and sign your templates (e.g. clients, business partners, managers).

However, saving templates in Signable is somewhat complicated – there is no direct method to save them. The only way to save templates is to send them as an Envelope. This action does save your template, but its primary use is for sending.

The process of using or sending a template is also inefficient. For example, there is only one way to send a template in the application. This lack of flexibility results in rework and an awkward user experience.

Document Editing

Signable’s document editor is simple and only comes with basic features. One disadvantage of Signable’s document editor is that it does not let you edit the text copy of your uploaded documents. This means you need to use another application to make any edits to your documents.

As seen above, Signable lets you click and place six fields, including legally binding signatures. While Signable lets you navigate a document by page, it does not include other useful editing features like being able to zoom in and out of a document or customizing the formatting of your fields.

Document Workflow

Signable’s platform includes features that help you manage your document workflow. This includes document sending, signing and storing.

Document Sending

Signable offers a few methods for sending documents. This includes the most popular method – sending through email. You can also generate a template link for mass signatures and in person signing.

Through email, you can customize the document title, set reminders, and set a day for the document to expire.

Real-time Notifications and Reminders

After your document is sent, Signable will send you an email notification when your document is completed. You can also choose to enable notifications for when a recipient views your document.

You can also set automatic reminders for recipients who have not yet completed your document. These can be sent everyday, every 2, 3, 5, or 7 days, or you can set a custom interval of days.

Document Signing

The next part of your document workflow is document signing. Overall, we found Signable’s signing platform to be efficient and include some useful features. One example is a “Next” button, which guides each recipient to the fields they must sign.

Document Storage

Once your documents have been executed, you need to be able to access them easily. Overall, we found Signable’s cloud-based storage system to be adequate.

Through Signable’s dashboard, you can view which documents are in progress, signed, cancelled and expired. You can also filter documents by date. Signable also includes a search bar, but does not let you group documents into custom folders.

Integrations & API

Signable has developed integrations and an API to help customers streamline their document workflows. With these, you can integrate your existing software applications with Signable and use Signable’s functionality to build custom applications.

However, Signable’s integrations are very limited. Currently, you can only integrate with Dropbox and Capsule. Signable’s API is REST based, which means it should be relatively easy to use for software developers.

Electronic signature software must come with specific legal and security compliances. We’ve listed those compliances below, and indicated the features offered by Signable.

Audit Reports

Audit reports track the important activity and changes for each document. Signable includes an “Envelope History” that updates in real time all of the activity taken on a document. Signable also automatically attaches a PDF version of the audit report to completed documents.

Signable’s mobile application is only available on tablets for Apple and Android users. Overall, we found Signable’s mobile app to be satisfactory because it includes a dashboard that lets you keep track of your documents. However, it does lack key features like the ability to make comments on documents and set mobile notifications.

Having efficient customer support is critical in ensuring a satisfactory customer experience. Overall, we found Signable’s customer service to be average, but not always accessible. For example, the live chat team was quick to respond, but the service is not 24/7. Also, since the company is UK based, the times customer support is available is not ideal for US-based customers.
