Today, Vtiger has over 90 employees and is based in Rajajinagar, Bengaluru.

Vtiger helps businesses engage and maintain their customer relationships in one platform. It offers tools for lead capture, contact and deal management, workflow automation, and insights reporting. Overall, Vtiger is a solid, all-in-one solution that works well for small businesses who do not want to integrate with third party applications.

Vtiger Features

In our review, we will walk through the features offered by Vtiger. We’ll discuss Vtiger’s usability, customer support, and describe the major benefits and drawbacks of the software. We’ll also show real images of the software to give you an idea of what it’s like to use the tool.

Lead Capture

A lead is an individual or organization that has an interest in your services or products. Lead capture is when you acquire someone’s information with the goal of converting them into a paying customer. Overall, the more lead capture channels you have, the better you are able to reach a wide audience of potential customers.

Vtiger only offers two lead capture methods – forms and email.

Lead Capture Forms

Forms are one of the easiest ways to capture leads because they let the leads provide their information themselves. Vtiger includes an in-platform feature that lets you create embeddable forms. Overall, this feature is not the most intuitive to use at first and only lets you create simple forms.

If lead capture by form is crucial for your business, we recommend using a different platform like HubSpot and Zoho CRM.

Vtiger forms

Vtiger lets you choose different fields to include in your forms – including name, email, and work location. However, you cannot include standard fields like phone number, date, or website. You also cannot preview how your form will look on your website.

Email Lead Capture

Vtiger offers a Chrome extension that captures information from anyone who you’ve emailed. Depending on the content of your emails, this includes someone’s primary email, phone number, and lifecycle stage.

Vtiger lead email

It should be noted, though, that this Chrome extension is more advanced in other platforms like Copper, and HubSpot. This is because Copper and HubSpot’s extensions can capture more information like social media profiles and website links.

Contact Management

Capturing a lead’s contact information is crucial in converting them into a paying customer. However, the type of information you can record, and how it’s stored and managed will determine the value you gain from your CRM. This is known as contact management.

Contact Profiles

Vtiger lets you create a profile for every lead that you’ve captured. The more information you have on a contact, the better the chance you have of converting that lead into a paying customer. Overall, Vtiger’s contact profile feature is robust.

Vtiger contact profile

Vtiger lets you include information like emails, phone numbers, addresses, and related deals and tasks in customer profiles. You can also include advanced information like social media handles, and web chat transcripts.

An advantage of Vtiger’s contact profile feature is that you can view analytics related to a contact’s tasks, deals, sales orders, and communication channels. This feature lets you create charts and graphs, giving you better insight on how to proceed with a contact.

Contact Storage

It’s imperative that your contacts are easily accessible and stored in an organized manner. Overall, Vtiger’s contact storage is effective and can support those who need to manage a large number of contacts at once – i.e. over 50 contacts.

Vtiger contact storage

Vtiger offers a search bar that lets you look for specific contacts. You can also create segmented contact lists through a wide variety of filters and conditions. This includes filters related to:

  • Contact information
  • Organization information
  • Tags
  • Scores
  • Who a contact reports to
  • How a contact was referred

Contact Activity Feed

Vtiger includes an activity feed for each of your contacts. Tracking a contact’s activity indicates where someone is in your sales process and reduces the chance of losing a lead. It also indicates the best next steps that will help someone progress through your sales funnel.

Overall, Vtiger’s contact activity feed feature is effective, but less robust than similar features found in other solutions like Copper and Freshworks CRM.

Vtiger contact activity

You can filter a contact’s activity based on internal comments about a contact, customer touch points, updates made on a contact’s profile, and completed tasks related to a contact.

Communication Channels

One of the key elements in converting your contacts into a paying customer is maintaining consistent communication. With Vtiger, you can communicate with leads through the following channels:

  • Email
  • Direct messaging
  • SMS
  • Phone

Email Marketing

Vtiger lets you integrate your inbox with its CRM, which lets you send individual emails and different email campaigns to customized recipient lists. Overall, these features are robust.

Vtiger email

For individual emails, Vtiger offers an email template library – including those for password reset, confirmation, and events. An advantage of these templates is that you can include merge fields. These automatically pull data from within your CRM, including contact and deal information, and insert them into your emails. These save time and ensure that your information is accurate.

Vtiger email

Vtiger lets you create drip campaigns that help keep your customers engaged through your sales cycle. With this feature, you can create your own templates or use one of Vtiger’s. For templates, you can include a variety of design elements – including buttons, social media links, images, and text.

SMS Messaging

Unlike many other solutions, Vtiger lets you send individual and mass SMS messages to your contacts. SMS messaging is beneficial because they have a higher open rate than emails, and are less intrusive than phone calls. Overall, this feature is simple and easy-to-use.

Vtiger SMS

You can send individual messages directly from within a contact’s profile. For mass texting, you can create an automated workflow that lets you choose the trigger, a time to start the workflow, a personalized list of recipients, and write a custom SMS message with merge fields.

Phone Calls

Vtiger lets you make phone calls from within a contact, deal, or record profile. This feature saves you time because you do not have to move back and forth between applications to make phone calls. Overall, this feature is basic in Vtiger.

After you’ve integrated with a phone system, you can call your contacts with a single click. You can also take notes during your calls, which helps you capture important details in real time.

Deal Management

The next stage for a lead is becoming a qualified sales lead. Once this happens, you’ll need an organized system to manage your deals. Effective deal management will give you the most up-to-date information and let sales representatives focus their attention on building strong relationships with potential customers.

Pipelines

Pipelines lets you visually track the progress of your prospective customers through every deal stage. Overall, Vtiger’s pipeline tool is effective, but has a little bit of a learning curve. We recommend it to those managing less than 50 simultaneous deals at once.

Vtiger deal management

Vtiger lets you create custom pipelines that best align with your business’s sales funnel. This includes being able to rename, reorder, and create unique stages. Vtiger also lets you insert a "win probability" percentage for every stage.

After you’ve created your custom pipeline, you can create segmented lists of deals based on fields and conditions. For example, you can view deals that were assigned to a specific person. You can also drag and drop stages, which make them easier to update. Vtiger also offers a search bar that you can use to look for a specific deal.

Task Management

Tasks in a CRM are actions that are taken to bring a deal to completion. Tasks can either be assigned to you or others in your organization. Overall, Vtiger’s task creation and management features are robust.

Vtiger creation

Vtiger lets you customize a task’s name, start and end date, include subtasks, and view related tasks and events. You can also set reminders for tasks – these are key because they reduce the chance of losing a potential deal.

Vtiger task management

When it comes to managing your tasks, you can organize them based on fields and conditions. For example, you can segment your tasks based on whether they are due on a specific date or in a specific stage. You can also use Vtiger’s search bar to look for a specific task.

Lead Scoring

Lead scoring is when a numerical value is assigned to a lead. This number represents the likelihood of a lead becoming a paying customer. Lead scoring also helps your sales representatives focus their time on the most lucrative deals. This feature is robust in Vtiger.

Vtiger lead score

Lead scoring in Vtiger is determined based on certain characteristics in each contact’s CRM record. This data includes lifecycle stage, job title, lead source method, and social media follower count.

Vtiger then takes this information and places a star or numerical rating on each contact’s profile. This lets your sales teams know how to prioritize their accounts.

Triggered Events

Vtiger lets you set up workflow rules where events trigger a certain action. For example, you can send an email to a user when a deal is created.

Overall, this feature in Vtiger is effective, but is not the most intuitive to use. We recommend other tools like HubSpot if workflow automations are important for your business workflow.

Vtiger workflow automation

Vtiger lets you create workflows related to your deals, contacts, organizations, sales orders, and communication methods. Some of the actions that can be performed in a workflow include sending an email, creating a task or record, and updating fields.

A disadvantage of Vtiger’s workflow feature, though, is that you cannot view your workflow visually. This makes it more difficult to make sure that each workflow is connected properly.

Reporting

CRM reporting includes key data that helps individuals and businesses make strategic decisions and tactical changes. This includes won and lost deals, pipeline progression, sales funnel efficiency, and sales forecasting. Overall, Vtiger’s reporting feature is user-friendly, and reports in Vtiger are easy to read.

Vtiger Reporting

Vtiger lets you visualize your data in multiple ways – including pie, column, bar, line, and funnel charts. A disadvantage of Vtiger’s reporting feature is that you cannot create dashboards that present multiple reports side by side. This makes it more difficult to provide a well-rounded perspective of your business’s performance – e.g. team activity, and your entire sales pipeline.

Vtiger Integrations

Vtiger offers integrations that expand the functionality of your CRM. They also eliminate the need to toggle back and forth between systems. Some of Vtiger’s key integrations include:

Mobile

Vtiger offers a mobile app for both Apple and Android. A mobile CRM helps ensure that your team can access your CRM system while on the go.

Vtiger mobile

Vtiger’s mobile app is robust. It allows you to perform almost all of the same functions you can perform with Vtiger’s web application. This includes viewing and creating deals, tasks, campaigns, contacts, and events. However, you cannot use Vtiger’s mobile app to view or create reports.

Legal & Security

Having proper security and data protection is critical for your CRM. Data breaches can harshly affect your company’s reputation and be costly to remedy. Vtiger offers key security features and compliances to make sure your data is secured and protected.

Customer Support

Overall, we found Vtiger’s customer support to be slightly above average. This is because Vtiger offers a wide range of customer support channels, and its live chat customer support is responsive and quick.

However, Vtiger’s knowledge base and FAQ articles do not have the best readability. For many articles the font of the text and the margin spacing between sentence lines is too small. We also noticed that many articles do not provide reference images.
