We spoke with Dr. Jennifer Finn, owner of Finn Chiropractic Center in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. She has over 20 years of experience as a chiropractor, and has been voted "Best Chiropractor in the Abingtons" for 10 consecutive years.
In this interview, Dr. Finn touches on the importance of selecting a chiropractic EHR that will stay on top of changes in the chiropractic industry. This makes it especially important to select a company that has a track record of quickly adjusting to regulatory changes, and that has a strong support team in place to help assist you with these transitions. Hi Dr. Finn, nice to meet you. Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your practice?
I graduated from Rutgers and received my doctorate from Life University. I have been in practice for over 20 years. I have a large family wellness practice, where I take care of patients of all ages, and provide all types of care, ranging from accident recovery to wellness care.
How long have you been using RAPID?
We started using RAPID (by ACOM Health) in 2014, and launched the practice management portion a bit after that.
What were the most important features you were looking for when evaluating different chiropractic systems?
I was looking for a system that could schedule, bill, and link to doctor notes -- an integrated system where all of these modules talked to each other.
What other systems were you considering at the time?
I actually don't really remember the other systems. Honestly there are a lot of good systems out there. I went with ACOM because it was recommended by the PCA (Pennsylvania Chiropractic Association). I also knew a lot of other doctors who were already using the system and recommended it.
Have you used any other chiropractic EHRs in the past? If so, how does RAPID compare?
I've used a documentation system for my notes since 2007. It was easy to use. But RAPID is so much more involved. The amount of detail I can use for documenting and recording a visit is incredible. The support I receive from the company goes above and beyond. I am constantly getting emails for education videos that are available to me to use that will educate me on the system, as well as on any updated billing practices and procedures.
How often do you need ACOM Health's support? Have you found their support to be helpful / responsive when you've needed it?
We needed their support a lot in the beginning, and they had told us we would as part of the onboarding process. We definitely used them as a resource. When we found a problem, they would immediately try to fix it or update the system to correct it. As time went on, we don't need as much support. But it's nice to know they are always available and willing to help.
Do you have any advice for our readers who are selecting an EHR for their practice?
Pick a system that fits your needs. One that updates the diagnosis changes and billing changes. ACOM has helped with the Meaningful Use attestation process. It has been essential to my business.
